The State Board of Higher Education purchases and uses Real Property for use by individual campuses. When a department identifies a piece of property it believes the University should obtain, Business Services will take a number of steps, including arranging for an appraisal of the property and performance of an environmental assessment, advising and gaining the approval of the Vice President for Finance and Administration, negotiating with the land-owner and then drafting and processing transfer deeds, sales agreements and other necessary documents.
Real Property also facilitates any necessary legal reviews and obtain required approvals from the Board of Higher Education. Most properties acquired are those contiguous to the Corvallis campus or by very specific need and opportunity. If you find yourself in a situation where by opportunity or need you feel the University would be well-suited to attempt to acquire a particular piece of property, you can email the details to RealProperty@oregonstate.edu.
